My son took this image in 2007. By evaluating the eif-data it was the first image, he took this day. 25 minutes later I took an image of the 'waiting miner' statue at Marine Parade in Dover. We were staying at Folkestone, so I guess it is somewhere in the Dover area. Could it be Alkham Valley?

This is the first of a set of my late father's slides dated June '61. I have absolutely no idea where it might be except it is likely to be Surrey or Sussex. Can anyone help? Following slides in the set give no clues. They used to drive down from North Ken to my mother's parents in Hailsham quite regularly, perhaps on the A22. I imagine it is somewhere in a corridor between the A21 and the A24. Looking at that impressive pre-Warboys sign tells us a major road is running left to right in the background and the road in the foreground with the Anglia is likely to be a minor road. There seems to be another road leading onto the main road over to the left (striped posts, crossing island and possibly another 'Slow' sign on the extreme left). Across the main road, looks like another road but maybe not a public one. Perhaps a road into a National Trust-sort of house?

I have flipped this image because there was much speculation that it had somehow been changed from the original. Said speculators say it is looking East from the North shore of Loch Eil somewhere in the region of Fassfern, with Ben Nevis as the most conspicous ridge and Aonach Mor as a long ridge to its left. IF this was taken from Loch Eil (as is quite widely speculated), and IF the highest peak seems to resemble Ben Nevis (left) with the long ridge of Aonach Mor (right), it is almost certain that this photo has been accidentally flipped somewhere in the process of changing it from its original medium. The note on this 1984 print gives Elterwater as the location. I have guessed the grid ref from looking on the map for where there is a prominent left-hand bend in the river. But trees prevent using aerial photography, and there is no geograph in this centisquare to compare.

I think this was taken from the north bank of the River Spey somewhere between Knockando and Grantown on Spey but can't pinpoint the exact location. Can't rule out the possibility that it is a different river in north-east Scotland!

Photo date c1960, cannot remember the exact location of the huts, possibly on the old RAF site. Have checked OS 7th series map and youth hostel is shown north of the church, yet the RAF camp was east out of the village, the camp area now is an industrial estate and none of the RAF huts remain.

It is somewhere on the M25 near Combebank Wood. Can someone identify the make and the model of the car? thanks in advance. Looking at the second image my son made of this car, it is a LHD and 2 exhaust pipes are visible below the tail lights near the wheels. May be this helps to identify the car.

I know this is a family snapshot, but nevertheless I try to find out, where this was. My guess was Swanage, but I am not sure. The last images I am sure is the beach at Shell Bay on the Isle of Purbeck and the next I am sure is the Seaton Tramway. Any ideas about the location and the direction of view?

For decades this tree stood at the bank of Loch Lomond. It was easy visible from the old A82 road which has been moved since. I guess the tree and the bolder are between Stuckgowan Cottage and Firkin Cottage. can anybody confirm or come up with a better position. Direction of view is roughly ESE.

This is by the number on the slide the last of a set of 3 images. The image before this was taken at NC2350 Loch na Beiste Brice. The next one I can identify is at Kylestrome [[[2958733]]] NC2234. In March 1978 there were extensive roadworks on the A894 and we had to go via dirtroads. Any suggestions about the location and the direction of view?

This is either Middle Chine or Alum Chine, I'd inclined to the first, but noticed in the preceding slide, a group view of the folk here apparently at the bottom of a chine, there was a suggestion of a high wall to the right that currently Middle Chine does not have. We probably came down one and up the other though. Which chine and where up it?

This was taken somewhere around Holmebridge area. There are many small wooded cloughs, and with changes in forestry patterns over the years, recent aerial photography on Wheresthepath has not been conclusive. This is a best guess.

A view in the fell winter of 62/63 from below the Bradwell sea wall towards shipping laid up in the Blackwater estuary. This could be viewed from any one of several squares centered on the suggested one, and really requires a knowledge of the relative positions on the anchored shipping at that time to pin it down. Edit: I now realize this is scanned back to front. Please reverse the view when considering, although I suspect this won't help a lot!

Somewhere north of Stourton Junction, passed 16:50, and south of Bumble Hole Lock, reached 20:35. From the lighting, probably earlier rather than later. From the wooded canal and its curvature, more likely candidates for the viewpoint are SO 863856, 860858, 864868, 865870.

I think this is looking south from Holyhead Mountain (probably from near the road in SH2181). On the full sized image, you can just about make out the outline of mountains on the horizon. Can anyone confirm the location or suggest an alternative?

This was taken a minute past Coppid Beech roundabout eastwards on the A322, and was two more minutes before I reached Twin Bridges in Bracknell. Aerial and ground views show no barrier and you can just see another road/barrier in front of the trees. Has a barrier and kerb been added since the viewing sites possibly?

As this appears to be an orange seller, I am assuming some sort of connection with Nell Gwynne or an actress associated with that role. Taken in 1972, preceding photos include a large naturalised lily pond and a bit of what loooks like a mansion (trees in the way). Only guess I can make on location is possibly SE, near London.

Although I had it in my mind that it was at Ide Hill, the negative bag says Toys Hill, so wondered if someone more local who is familiar with the woodland walks can suggest a 6 figure grid reference, possibly in Scords Wood (though I don't recollect that name). There were a lot of these gnarled old trees, so it was a highly distinctive patch of woodland. I printed these up large on green fluorescent paper in the 1970s and swore blind the kids that I took them in Mirkwood and I couldn't stop the pictures going green because I had "strayed off the path when Gandalf told me not to".

I can't work this one out, my only memory of something like this was on the cliff tops near Lulworth Cove, Dorset (and it has the same date stamp on the transparency as others taken there in March/April 1977). However, 2 things bother me, I can't find anything that looks like it now and it looks like a dry stone wall in the foreground (not flint) and I can't imagine there is much material around Lulworth for such a wall. Any Ideas anyone. There is a 'slight' possibility the image has been flipped when scanning the slide so if it doesn't look quite right try mirroe image! Thanks in advance
